Penn State student Kevin Rogers, of Exeter, Pennsylvania, is currently interning at the Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey. Kevin, who intends to graduate in December of this year, will be a part of an extensive project at Baltusrol to rebuild the short teeing ground on the 18th hole of the Lower Course. He will be excavating the existing tee, installing drainage, applying the construction mix, grading, and sodding. Kevin will also have the opportunity to be involved in reconfiguring and installing an installation system and establishing a bent grass nursery. Kevin is excited about the many learning opportunities his internship has to offer and is looking forward to advancing his knowledge. He says “I have established a true love for the profession through not only my previous golf course experience, but the [work] required to become a successful superintendent at a club such as Baltusrol”.
