Graduating Students Receive PTC Scholarships

The Pennsylvania Turfgrass Council has recently announced that graduating students Michael Gurcsik and Nicholas Tristani have been named the 2014 PTC Undergraduate Scholarship recipients.

Mr. Michael Gursik is the recipient of the Pennsylvania Turfgrass Council Dr. Paul Heller Scholarship. This scholarship is named after Dr. Paul Heller, a long time Professor of Turfgrass Entomology at Penn State. Mr. Gursik worked for Brookside Country Club in Macungie, PA during the summer of 2011 and for the Reading Phillies in Reading, PA in the spring and summer of 2012. He worked for the Penn State Golf Courses in the spring and fall of 2013. He also interned at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, PA during the summer of 2013. After graduation, he will be returning to Oakmont Country Club as an Assistant in Training.

Mr. Nicholas Tristani is the recipient of the Pennsylvania Turfgrass Council Outstanding Student in Turfgrass Science scholarship. Mr. Tristani, originally from Weatherly, PA, worked at Valley Country Club located in Conyngham, PA from the summer of 2011 to the fall of 2012. He also worked at The Penn State Golf Course located in State College, PA from spring of 2013 until the spring of 2014 and did an internship at Merion Golf Club. After graduation, he will be returning to Merion as the Head Intern.

Each scholarship recipient was awarded $1,500 from the Council.
