Penn State Alum Talks Behind the Scenes with the Eagles

Most NFL fans don't think about all of the long hours that go into making a professional football game happen. The truth is, there are hundreds of support staff and thousands of man hours that go into prepping and working a game each week. Out of everything that needs work, though, the field itself is by far the most important. That's why the Philadelphia Eagles need the best grounds crew possible in order to make sure the team is able to perform at one hundred percent every Sunday.

Students Receive GCSAA Scholarships

Penn State students were awarded 45% GCSAA scholarship dollars this year, with seven students receiving a total of $13,500.

Penn State Students Learn About Turf Management in the United Kingdom

Last week, seven Penn State students participated in a new course designed to provide experience in how turfgrasses are managed in the United Kingdom. The course involved weekly lectures during the 2014 spring semester on the history, design, and management of golf courses and athletic fields in England and Scotland. It culminated in an 8-day trip to the United Kingdom to visit several high profile turf venues.

Penn State offers several options for an education in turfgrass management: The four-year bachelor's degree program prepares students for a wide variety of careers in the turfgrass industry, and masters and Ph.D. programs offer opportunities for advanced studies. Penn State, in fact, holds the distinction of graduating the first Ph.D. in turfgrass management. Penn State World Campus is another option for students who want to earn credits through distance learning. Penn State's educational programs in turfgrass management have graduated thousands of turf managers who can be found in the industry throughout the world.
