Butler National Golf Club superintendent Michael Sauls didn't always know that he wanted to work in the Green Industry. Saul spent two years studying engineering at another university before he decided to change his focus, "having worked on a golf course during high school, it became apparent this was something that I loved to do...the decision to change my major to turfgrass management became obvious".

Penn State and the Pennsylvania Turfgrass Council are pleased to announce that the annual Penn State Golf Turf Conference will be held from November 18th through the 20th in the Nittany Lion Inn in State College, PA.

Field Days 2014 a Success

Professor Receives Award

New Faculty Member to Join Penn State Turf Science Team

Dr. Benjamin McGraw will be joining the Penn State Turfgrass Science program as the new turfgrass entomologist, a position with a joint appointment between the Plant Science and Entomology departments. Ben’s responsibilities will be to conduct research on the ecology and management of turfgrass insect pests and to teach in Penn State’s 2- and 4-year programs. Ben is looking forward to working with Pennsylvania and regional turf industry stakeholders, and teaching and mentoring both undergraduate and graduate students.

Alum Talks about U.S. Senior Open

Oak Tree National’s golf course superintendent is Josh Cook, 34, who moved here in January of 2012 after beginning his golf course tending career in Chattanooga, Tenn., at the age of 18.
