Congratulations to 2017 Scholarship and Award Recipients

This past Saturday, March 4, 2017, twelve two-year Golf Turf Management Program students graduated at the Nittany Lion Inn. Many of the graduating students received scholarships, including:
Penncross Bentgrass Growers Association
The Penncross Bentgrass Growers Association, located in Hubbard, Oregon, has awarded more than $220,000 in scholarships since 1974. These scholarships are awarded to students pursuing a career in the turf industry. Scholarships are awarded each year in conjunction with the Golf Course Superintendents show. This year, the recipients of the the The Penncross Bentgrass Growers Association scholarship are:

Myles Adderly Technical Report Writing Award
One of the most important aspects of being successful in any industry is communication. The Myles Adderly Award recognizes one individual’s accomplishments in this area. This year’s recipient of the award is:

Alumni Award (Outstanding Student Award)
The College of Agricultural Sciences Alumni Society, representing more than 8,000 former Penn State students and friends of the College, presents this award to a student who is judged to be an outstanding “all around” student. This year’s recipient of the award is:

Zimmerman Memorial Award
The Golf Course Turfgrass Management Program Achievement Award, as established by the graduating Class of 1978, is designed with the purpose of giving recognition to the graduating student whose attitude and personal character are most outstanding, and are in keeping with the accepted ideals of the turfgrass profession. This year’s recipient of the award is:

Pennsylvania Turfgrass Council Scholarship
Each year, the Pennsylvania Turfgrass Council (PTC) awards scholarships to outstanding graduating students in the 2-year and 4-year program. This year’s recipient of the award is:

Joseph M. Duich Scholarship
The Joseph M. Duich endowment was established in 1990 to recognize the contribution of Joseph M. Duich throughout his long and distinguished career as a turfgrass scientist and educator. Each year the endowment presents a scholarship to one graduating student. This year’s recipient of the award is:
