Assistant/Associate Professor of Turfgrass Science

Responsibilities: The Department of Plant Science at the Pennsylvania State University is seeking a dynamic individual for a tenure-track, 9-month Assistant or Associate Professor with 50% teaching and 50% research responsibilities. It is expected that the candidate will teach in the 2-year, 4-year and online programs. Specific courses depend on the expertise and interest of the successful candidate. Recruitment and advising of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as interaction with the turfgrass industry are expected. The successful candidate will engage in collaborative and interdisciplinary projects with other faculty at Penn State University, and with plant scientists at the regional and national level, to develop a vigorous research program supported by extramural funding that will lead to improved and sustainable turfgrass systems that foster environmental and economic resiliency.
Qualifications: Candidate must have a Ph.D. or equivalent by the date of appointment. Candidate must possess disciplinary depth in a field relevant to turfgrass science, with the ability and desire to approach problems taking turfgrass systems into account. The candidate must have strong communication skills and classroom teaching experience. Salary: Competitive and commensurate with background and experiences.
