Meredith named Manager of the Year

PORTLAND, MAINE — Eastern League President Joseph McEacharn is pleased to announce Shaun Meredith of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats has been named the winner of the 2010 Eastern League Diamond Pro Sports Field Manager of the Year Award. It is the first time that Shaun has won this award, which is voted on by Eastern League field staff and umpires.

The 2010 season marks Meredith’s second season with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats organization. He is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and earned his Bachelor of Sciences in Turf Grass Science from Penn State University. Shaun had an internship at PNC Park with the Pittsburgh Pirates and worked for the Beaver Stadium Grounds crew while attending Penn State. Prior to joining the Fisher Cats he served as the Sports Turf Manager for the State College Spikes of the New York-Pennsylvania League.

Shaun is joined on his staff with the Fisher Cats by Nate Berube, Scott Strong, Nate Macllelan and Jon Peterson.

“The Fisher Cats are incredibly fortunate to have one of the best playing surfaces around and it’s due to the hard work and dedication that Shaun Meredith and his crew put into the field,” said Fisher Cats President/General Manager Rick Brenner. “This is a much-deserved honor for Shaun, and we couldn’t be happier for him.”
