Brandon Wildt – Ballyneal Golf Course
June 12, 2014 in 2-year, Articles, Internships
In the previous post, I talked about my visit to Cherry Hills Country Club and Denver Country Club, where I was visiting another intern. Immediately upon finishing my visit with Jack at Denver Country Club, I drove three and half hours east to Holyoke where I visited with another student who was interning at Ballyneal Golf Course.
In case you don’t know, Ballyneal is a fine fescue golf course located in the most eastern part of Colorado, near the sandhills, close to the border of Nebraska. The golf course and its grass is offering a unique experience for intern Brandon Wildt, who is completing a six-month internship at the fescue facility.
Brandon was eager to show me around the golf course and all the activities that he’s been a part of. The overwhelming storyline during this visit included a slew of tornadoes that came through the area while I was visiting. Caught in a hailstorm on the practice facility, we made our way back to the maintenance facility only to have the superintendent rush everybody into a car and head to the basement in the clubhouse, where we waited out the storm. The winds picked up and the rain and hail continued to come down sideways. Although tornadoes were reported to have touched down in the area, we made it through without much concern and, when the visit was over, I made my way back to Denver.
Check out some of the photos and video of the storm from the golf course below.
