Remembering Stan
August 28, 2013 in Articles
It’s been one year since our friend, colleague, and fellow Penn State alum Stanley Zontek passed away. All of us remember where we were last August when we heard the sad news. Since that day his memory has been kept alive with public and private tributes, memorials, and even an endowment in his name. He was sorely missed throughout the Mid-Atlantic region this year, especially at the U.S. Open at Merion (but his presence in spirit was strongly felt).
Those of us who knew Stan will never forget his grace, charm, love of golf, and passion for….well, just about everything. Whether it was designing a golf course, the proper way to roast a pork loin, or the best pubs in Scotland, he had a strong opinion on it. Life in the world of golf has gone on without Stan, but it sure seems a lot less interesting. Go golf!
